Water Rats

Brisbane duo DUNE RATS have released a retro-licious music video for their track ‘Pogo’, lifted from debut EP Social Atoms. In the clip the boys enjoy some cliff jumping into pristine blue waters with some of their best mates. Apparently BC Michaels and Danny Beus are gluttons for times – we never would have guessed…

In other Dune Rats news, the boys have been snared to tour with some pretty big international names in early 2012. We can’t let you know who yet, you’ll just have to wait and see.

Christmas Crackers

What do you get the band that has everything for Christmas? A band that in the past has supported bands like AC/DC and Queens Of The Stone Age. A band whose second album Dancing With A Dead Man was a triple j feature album in 2011. A band whose list of achievements is starting to resemble a Christmas wish list of every starry-eyed young indie band in the country.

What more can you stuff into their sack, I hear you ask? How about the BIGGEST music festival in the country? That’s right, Melbourne rockers Calling All Cars have been added to the East Coast legs of the Big Day Out, joining the likes of Soundgarden, Kasabian and My Chemical Romance on this mammoth music tour. LONG HAIR, DON’T CARE, BETTY AIRS

Lil Weezy  looks the part of an ex jailbird (and fittingly he is one), and although he drops an abundance of nonsensical rhymes – his attitude is a prime example of the lyrical content of Betty Airs rebelious new track ‘Juvenile’. The troublesome Sydney 4-pack is proving safer than a sixer, but wilder than a long neck, tearing up the airwaves but without the threat of incarceration.

They will be hitching a ride with some reputable acts to the likes of Wolf & Cub, British India, Dune Rats and Velociraptor to bring their surf thrash to the stages across Australia that will surely have panties dropping and bodies flying in a live show that will have Elvis rolling over like Beethoven. Shake it up with Betty Airs, their tour dates found HERE.

BRITISH INJURY

Declan Melia is a man of many talents, however his recent addition to the list of credentials is what could be summarised simply with a reference to Avril Lavigne’s 2002 song ‘Sk8er Boi’. “Now he’s a superstar, slammin’ on his guitar” was a fitting lyric, until recently when an on board accident caused injuries to both wrist and fingers seeing Declan unfit to handle a guitar on their current ‘She prefers older Men’ tour.

Manager Glenn Goldsmith was in merry spirits despite the ordeal, saying “Declan is still able to sing and he can’t really play the guitar anyway”. Replacing him on shredding duties will be Nipuna from Neon Love, with supports from Betty Airs, The Frowning Clouds and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. To coincide with the tour, British India will have a free ‘fans only’ download on their website for a limited time. Better snap it up quick because it won’t be released in any other format, ever again >> www.britishindia.com.au
