*Pavement*  you know them as one of the most popular and influential indie-rock bands of the nineties. And guess what? They’re coming back Down Under as part of their 2010 world tour!

Band mates Stephen Malkmus, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, Mark Ibold, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West will play at select cities around Australia and at Golden Plains music festival in Victoria.

For those of you who were hoping the band would permanently reunite, sorry to disappoint you but their label Matador Records have emphasised that the band have no plans for further touring and recording.

The band will be kicking things off in Sydney, followed by shows in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and wrapping up their Australian tour in Melbourne. Tickets are on sale at 9:00amon Friday October 23, 2009.

A greatest hits album will also be released to coincide with the tour.

It’s been ten years since Pavement left the music scene. Since their split in 1999 the band are still as popular as they used to be and this tour is a live celebration of the band that has transformed the indie music scene with their raw and lo-fi recordings.
