Crazy Adelaide lads, City Riots, are fast becoming fully fledged touring rock stars! Currently on the road with fellow Shiny kids Boy In A Box, they are helping seasoned travellers and all round bad influences British India launch their new single “March Into The Ocean” nationally. This touring triple header is undoubtedly the greatest show of current Australian independent music in the southern hemisphere!!

Visiting places these they have never been before, these vulnerable South Australians have many a tale to tell from their first nine shows. From blowing up PAs in Griffith, braving grasshopper plagues in Wagga Wagga, having journalists throw up on their car after partying too hard in Melbourne, to impromptu blues jams with Boy In A Box and Declan from British India somewhere in between, this is one tour diary worth reading. They are pushing their skinny jeans to the absolute limit and exploring regional towns armed only with guitars and a very dodgy GPS.

Check out their first tour diary below and prepare yourself for many more antics and anecdotes in the coming weeks.

City Riots will be releasing their long awaited, highly anticipated debut album later this year. If you have tickets to any of the British India shows make sure you arrive early to hear a sneak peek of what’s to come… pretty confident you won’t be disappointed!!

Happy (belated) New Year!
I just realised my last Shiny blog was the start of the financial New Year so I am well overdue for a new one.

In honour of my recent trip to Japan where I celebrated my quarter of a century, disrupted recording sessions, carved up fresh powder and consumed more than my body weight in Sake and Sapporo I’ve decided to bring you my very own ‘Top 3 Only in Japan’

1. Vending Machines- Japan the land of vending machines, where you can buy any number of wonderful treats including alcohol, warm sugary pancake drinks in a can (that actually taste like pancakes with maple syrup!), individually wrapped bananas, toy tools AND my personal favourite… Chicken Nuggets! Warm tasty chickenie treats in under a minute.

2. あなたが飲み放題- Nomihodai which translates to all you can drink. A ridiculous number of bars in Tokyo have an offer where for about 1500 Yen ($18.95 AUD) you can have unlimited drinks for the night. This concept would clearly never work in Australia, but given that the Japanese are so polite and controlled it is widely offered in bars. I obviously showed amazing self-discipline in above mentioned bars and was not later seen trying to eat with upside-down chopsticks.

3. Japanese Children with inappropriate toys- I think one of the greatest highlights on my birthday (maybe even my last 25 birthdays) was watching a small Japanese child wielding an real ice-pick and chipping away at the walls of an ice bar that we were at while his parents clapped him on in delight. Inside that same bar was another little Japanese boy playing with a squeezy toy boob- complete with nipple and all. But despite the odd toy choices Japanese kids are seriously the cutest things ever!

I’m sure you are all well aware of the insane floods that have devastated QLD recently. While everyone is doing their best to help out the people of Queensland we also need to remember to lend a helping hand (or paw) to the four-legged furry folk in the sunshine state.

Brisbane Electro-dance punks re:enactment are leading the crusade and have released a demo from their upcoming album that you can purchase online, with all funds raised going to help rebuild their local flooded RSPCA headquarters.

The RSPCA in QLD was severely damaged by the recent floods, and while they managed to evacuate all the animals from their kennels, catteries and farm yard, they now need your help to clean up and re-build the shelter so that they can continue to help homeless critters. Unfortunately the RSPCA is exempt from flood relief funds so they are completely reliant on your generosity.

So click HERE and donate what you can to help the doggies and kitties of QLD, not only will you get the warm fuzzy feeling of doing something good but you will also get the brand new re:enactment track Scraps. Winner Winner!

For more info check out the RSPCA page
