It’s Australia, not London calling; Matt Corby has recently arrived home and is rested up and ready for the launch of his latest single “My False”. The first show begins tonight, July 1, at Raval in Surry Hills- which we’re excited to announce is well and truly sold out! Don’t kick yourself too hard if you missed out on tickets, because of the high demand he has squeezed in one more show at Raval – this Sunday the 4 of July – but be sure to get in quickly because this one is predicted to sell like hot cakes too.

If you’re Melbourne based, make sure you pre-book your ticket for Matty’s gig at the Toff in Town because tickets for that show are in high demand… if you miss out you will have to kick yourself (or prepare be prepared to road trip it to Bacchus Marsh) because this is his only Melbourne show.

Don’t forget Matt will also be the super Shiny support act for international heavy-weights (and close friends) Mumford and Sons when they play their Sydney shows at the Enmore Theatre as part of the Splendour in the Grass side shows.

Last weekend, Matt Corby (the new kid on the Shiny block), released his first new material for 2010…the stomping new-folk track “My False” b/w the sublime “Lighthome” …available from the omni present iTunes store.

This week we’re announcing Matt’s first ever national Australian tour as he looks to turn the volume from quiet to loud. The tour will see Matt play 13 shows across a three week period in July and will culminate when he supports Mumford and Sons at their sold out shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre.

This is your chance to catch an emerging, dynamic young artist at the beginning of his career in intimate settings throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia. As Big Kev says, “i’m excited”!

In the meantime you can download an exclusive free live version of “Lighthome” at Matt’s website. Recorded live at Studio 301 in Sydney if this one doesn’t make you go “ooh” and “ahh” then you may just be related the Tin Man from Wizard Of Oz!

No False Starts For Matt Corby

Drum roll please…..enter stage right, Matt Corby, an incredibly talented 19 year old singer songwriter all
the way from Cronulla (one of Sydney’s southern beach suburbs and home of the pitiful Cronulla Sharks Rugby League team).

Matt is recording his debut album around the world with a stellar support team, and Shiny somehow, miraculaously, joyously and happily got the call to join in on the good times.

Matt spent much of 2009 in London with incredible results: he recently signed a worldwide publishing deal with BMG out of the UK and has signed to Communion, one of the hottest independent labels in the UK, run by Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons’ fame, who will be releasing Matt’s EP In September in the UK.

Until that’s released you should listen out for his new ‘My False’, a stomping folk anthem recorded in Melbourne with Dann Hume, who produced Lisa Mitchell’s debut album ‘Wonder’, and it’s “b-side” ‘Lighthome’, recorded in London late last year, all stark and soulful – the two songs will be available online from May 21.
