That’s right kids, an opening in the ever shrinking black hole of indie rock has appeared at Shiny!

It is an entry level position for someone who loves music, working as a PUBLICIST / PROMO PERSON.

The most important attributes are that you need to be enthusiastic, hard working and honest. You need to be dedicated to the ideal of independent music and you need to CARE about the artists and people you work with…after that it’s easy!

Its full time and based in our salubrious inner city Melbourne compound. Amongst other things you’ll help plan and implement promotion and publicity campaigns for our clients across all media…you’ll contribute to, and write, media releases and newsletters, respond to media enquiries and liaise with our artists and clients.

You’ll also be introduced to a host of other fun filled activities to while away your day, as well as the more mundane tasks that are part and parcel of a work-a-day life.

It’s important that you have excellent organisation and communication skills – both written and verbal. It really is ESSENTIAL that you are able to write creatively and passionately.  You also need to be confident, creative and be able to work unsupervised. You will need experience with MS Word, MS Excel, “the internet” and perhaps nunchaku skills.

…maybe you don’t have all those skills and think that your boundless enthusiasm, passion, people skills and general all round good karma will get you through…it might!
