Priddle me this, Priddle me that, who is ‘Boy in a Box’ and what is his brand new track?

Glitter, Gold, Ruin – it sounds like another attempt at making sense of the ever-questionable relationship between David Bowie and Iggy Pop! But make no mistake (Velvet Goldmine did that for us); this crafty little number is in fact the debut single from charmer, Tobias Priddle – the talent behind Melbourne’s Boy in a Box.

Recording Moon comes up was an accidental avenue back into the spotlight, and thank heavens for that, because Glitter, Gold, Ruin is the kind of track that captures the glitz of the old world in a catchy, contemporary fashion – like donning a 3 piece suit to a daytime dance festival.

Cruise along to witness this Casanova live, as he teams up with Adelaide’s glam punks Dangerous! in a month long residency at the Northcote Social Club beginning on Tuesday 8th March.

If you can’t make it down to Melbourne, then March into the Ocean with Boy in a Box as he supports British India on their national tour, check out the tour dates – HERE.

Dust off your wingtips because Glitter, Gold, Ruin will be released through Gigantically Small on Friday 18th March.

With all this excitement, you best get your game face ready; Boy in a Box is set to come up flush (and I do mean royally).

Ay Caramba, it’s Tijuana Cartel!

No, Shiny has not expanded its market to incorporate the illegal drug trade – although our latest addition Tijuana Cartel is probably more addictive than whatever teeth rotting produce, their gun-toting counterparts had previously cooked up.

Approaching their electronic minimal (not criminal)  pop with an experimental edge, Tijuana Cartel’s current single ‘White Dove’ is so catchy that even the original head honcho, Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (What’s in a name… or four?) would be stroking his moustache in excitement.

Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland, put on your your spurs and spats, because Tijuana Cartel are heading your way, check out their tour dates - HERE

At Shiny we have been consuming an excess of salt and lemons in appreciation for our latest addition to the family. Join us as we say ‘Chin Chin’ to Tijuana Cartel , this quirky little number will soon have you shouting “One tequila, Two tequila, Three Tequila… MORE!”

McFly into free time with Split Seconds

Split Seconds may boast baron passports, but where they lack in stamps they make up in some rather impressive hometown performances. Having already played Perth’s One Movement, Big day out, Laneway Festival and securing the supports for Sufjan Stevens and Tim MinchinSplit Seconds have absolutely no intentions of standing still.

On March 12th, Amplifier Bar in Perth will be radiating in the reverb of the Split Seconds EP launch, with a little help from Andy Bull, Tash Parker and Goodnight Tiger. In addition to this, and in support of two WA Government initiatives, vocalist Sean Pollard will feature in an interview for Head2Head magazine, and the band will appear on the upcoming Music Feedback Cd/DVD, both having been set up by The Western Australian Mental Health Commission to raise awareness for mental health.

Their new track ‘What a week’ is sure to have you hawk eyeing the classifieds for a DeLorean, in attempts to travel back to your very first taste of Split Seconds, and if that’s not enough to get you going, these generous lads are giving away FREE time in the form of their ‘Property Line’ outtake originally recorded for the EP!

So make like Marty and McFly over to the Split Seconds Bandcamp site to pre-order a hard copy of their EP, so you can get your hi tops on this exclusive track!
