Wake Up Jeff… ooops i mean Shiny

Well beloved Shiny devotees apologies for the delay in updates/ news from us Shiny peeps.

We have been crazy busy and the last few months have seen some mega changes at Chez Shiny.

As you probably already know super-shiny-stationary obsessed Jade Pham flew our coop at the beginning of July, leaving Stav a little broken hearted.

New kid on the block Tiana is now firmly ensconced into the fold, and to help make things easier for Stav went the Jade inspired semi head shave (it must be something about the desk in the corner!) and is now your go-to girl for everything Evelyn related.

Last week also saw the sad departure of our beloved office boy extraordinaire Matt Kulesza. The office hasn’t quite been the same without our ipod Nazi here to educate us about obscure music and mushroom harvesting, and the empty wall beside me is a sad reminder of the quirky funny boy that used to sit next to me just a week ago. Matt-Baby is moving on to focus on his music career with Rat Vs Possum.

Despite Stav having lost his only male companion in the office, Shiny is fresh-faced, starry-eyed and looking forward to a strong and busy 2010/2011.

Enough about loss – chin up, not down. Check out these exciting new campaigns! Full Story >>

Avalanche still going strong

British India, one of Melbourne’s hardest working indie bands, are STILL on the road, wowing audiences nationally. The boys tore up the stage in front of a highly adoring home town audience, sold out their Brisbane show, and rocked the socks of Adelaide fans, not to mention warmed up Canberra and Wagga punters last weekend.

British India shared the stage with Vampire Weekend, Silverchair, Empire of the Sun and Grinspoon at the Groovin the Moo festival as well as playing to a bunch of lucky screaming high school kids as part of Triple J’s Unearthed high competition. …And that’s just June!

July will see British India’s Avalanche tour hit Sydney, Newcastle and Tassie before the boys take a short, but well deserved break.

If you are having serious BI withdrawl symptoms tune into Neighbours on Tuesday the 17th of August to see the boys perform and teach Ramsey Street residents all about garage rock!

Go Amity Go!

The Amity Affliction’s new album Youngbloods has exploded on the ARIA charts, debuting at #6 this week… Making the band the Australian music industry’s under the radar success story of the year!

The Amity boys are absolutely dominating at the moment, they sold out their over 18 shows at Fowlers Live in Adelaide and the Hi-Fi in Melbourne last weekend, and tickets to their 18+ Brisbane show are increasingly scarce – so if you want to go I’d recommend purchasing tickets in the next hour before they’re all snapped up. Tickets to the Perth shows are still available, but be sure to get in early, with beloved local punk and hardcore act Break Even warming the stage for all WA shows, the shows will definitely sell out!

To further fuel the Amity fire, the band’s latest single Anchors, has been added to Triple J’s playlist – and it got an absolute flogging last night on Home and Hosed and Short Fast Loud.

The AA also graced the front cover of national hard rock and punk bible Blunt magazine, as well as being cover stars for Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and hometown Brisbane street presses this month.
