AROUND THE WEST IN 11 DAYS

While Tijuana Cartel may not have access to a hot air balloon to embark on a trip around the world in 80 days, they have indeed paid homage to Phileas Fogg in their ambitious effort to play 11 gigs in 11 days in WA.  Beginning this Friday, Tijuana Cartel will be joining Salmonella Dub on their National tour, before commencing a headlining tour in support of their impending album ‘M1’. Their latest track ‘Keep of the Chemicals’ has been making its way across the airwaves, and the talented cartel have made this acidic video to compliment it using two iPhones. Get with the times and sneak a peak at this awesome effort:

Wanna play at Pyramid Rock Festival?

Triple J Unearthed is giving you the opportunity to do just that! If you’re from Victoria, you could be jamming alongside Scissor Sisters, The Living End and Gotye at this year’s Pyramid Rock Festival just by having your music uploaded to the Triple J Unearthed website. It’s as simple as that!

Not only will you get to share the stage with some pretty damn fine musical talent, you’ll also get VIP camping for the entire festival and $500 in cold, hard cash, not to mention all the perks of being a Triple J Unearthed band. Just ask last year’s winners NORTH EAST PARTY HOUSE about how sweet that deal is. You have until 12pm on Sunday 23 October to get your shit together so don’t waste any time!

Family Matters

Whereas Urkell had to gate crash the Winslow home, Shiny is all about keeping the door open for new additions to the family. We are so excited about the prospect of Motherhood, and consequently we have adopted 3 new bands: DUNE RATS, BETTY AIRS & THE MANK

DUNE RATS: You have probably heard “Pogo” bouncing around on Triple J, and this is just a small taste of what is to come from Brisbane’s DUNE RATS! Their debut EP ‘Sexy Beach’ combined cheeky tunes with the aesthetics of Baywatch, and their latest EP ‘Social Atoms’ is even tastier than a hamburger is to Hasselhoff. Mixed & Mastered by Simon Berkfinger from the Philly Jays, ‘Social Atoms’ is going to get your pulse racing faster than high intensity aerobics!

>> Get wild with DUNE RATS!

BETTY AIRS: If you have found yourself wondering what Darren from Gerling is up to, then let it be known that he has teamed up with Michael, Christian and most recently Patrick (The Vines/Youthgroup) to form the chaotic, spontaneous and downright radical band BETTY AIRS. Their EP “Creepin’ it real” encapsulated the fifties fun of surf guitar and turned it on its head with the punk ferocity of champions. Veronica may have defeated Betty for Archie’s affections, but with a new single on its way and an east coast tour on the horizon, BETTY AIRS is sure to have you declaring “She’s the Juan!”

>> Get fresh with BETTY AIRS

THE MANK: The Sunshine Coast might be home to the Big Pineapple, but their latest mark on the map is much louder than a bright yellow, giant piece of fruit. Big beat, down beat, groovin’ hip-hop  – trying to genre define THE MANK is like trying to tell the difference between fructose and glucose  (either way it’s all damn good).  Mellow as a beer at breakfast, and bold as sunglasses at night, THE MANK are pushing it to the edge and are up for a challenge with a jam packed few months ahead!

>> Get down with THE MANK

What’s loud, proud and six times Shiny?

The line-up for BIGSOUND, that’s what!  Brisbane is home to Australia’s biggest music conference and through a positive alignment of the cosmos, not one but SIX Shiny superstars are on the roster for this 3 day long extravaganza!
